This is my Jam!

So, now that I have a wonderful son, I felt it was time for me to hang around other moms. I joind a MOMS group! The MOMS stands for something, but I can't remember what. So fast forward to Valentine's Day and our MOMS group is having a Valentine's Day party! We were invited to bring a dish to share! I was excited because I hadn't really been able to show off my cooking/baking skills yet. I was thinking for a week about what I could make to bring. Pretty pink cupcakes? Pretty red cookies? I had a bunch of ideas, then ( as things seem to go since having Mr. Baby) I simply ran out of time. So late the night before the party, I ran out and picked up some strawberries on sale and some canned biscuits. I made some strawberry jam and cut the biscuits into hearts! It wasn't my best effort, but they turned out pretty cute.

I rinsed my 3 for $5 berries first. They look pretty good for such a great deal, right?

Then I cut those green tops of and halved them and plopped them in a sauce pan.
I put in about half a cup of sugar. I didn't want it too sweet.
Then I let it boil for about 15-20 minutes. I've never really made jam-ish type stuff, so I'm not completely sure how long I should have cooked it. It never really "jammed" up.
Transfered it to a dish and put it in the fridge overnight.

I made the biscuits the next morning, to try and let them be kind of warm when we got to the party.

I just used regular ol' biscuits from the store. I was going to make scones, but I had never made them before and didn't have time and blah blah blah.
I flattened them a bit in my hand and used the smallest heart cutter I had.
Look at them all cute and ready to go into the oven!

Oops! I accidentally let the bottoms of one sheet get a little too brown. I wouldn't say burnt...not really.

I made it to the party on time, with my food & Baby's valentines. It was a lot of fun! And the strawberry jam was pretty good!
